50 Shades of Happiness : HOLI 2k16






Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but a life by what we give.


This Holi bought out various shades of happiness in many kids of several of our workplaces, with our members going to Sector 2, Sector 5, Sector 6, Sector 21 and OSAP colony. An assortment of colors, water balloons and water guns resulted in wide smiles on the faces of those kids, and their families, who enthusiastically joined in along with their kids, as they had to give in to the cheers of joy of their children. And to add to the frolic, the kids were treated with sweets and drinks. True, it may be a lot of work when it comes to teaching those notorious kids and controlling their mischief, but the happiness we saw on their faces, that is the key to our survival, our prime goal and our only hope. The joy we witnessed on that day is something we never have, but that happiness is a drug we can not live without. So here's to a very memorable Holi and dozens more to come! :)

Jagda: Of Little Hearts and Mighty Dreams

A Family, Together Forever As cliched as it sounds, I am still honestly relieved that we are done with 2020 now. Yes, I know it’s just a change in a single digit, and globally the situation remains roughly the same but still. It’s only two months into 2021, and India, especially, seems to be in a much better place in terms of the pandemic. AASRA isn’t to be left behind then. We have had the integration of new inductees and foundation day celebration to begin the year with. Hopefully, we will have much more to come. All optimism around the new year aside, 2020 was definitely a hard year for us. For a club that works locally, this situation presented unprecedented challenges. But it’s not in AASRA’s culture to give up and we continued offering our services wherever possible. Lighting Lives, Making a Difference: Diya Project 2k17

New clothes, sweets, crackers. Diwali is a time of joy and celebration. But there are many who aren't fortunate enough. For the poor, buying things during festivals can be nothing but a far fetched dream. We at AASRA believe that there's no greater joy than the joy of serving the poor and the less fortunate ones. Each year, we create employment opportunities for dozens of poor women during Diwali, so that they have enough money to celebrate the festival of lights with their families. DIYA PROJECT is our greatest and most awaited project every year, for which every volunteer of AASRA puts in a lot of effort (and love). We buy diyas from a wholesale seller, and buy decorative items such as glitter powder, paints etc. We go to three workplaces and ask the women there to decorate these Diyas for us. Our volunteers roam around the campus of NITR, visiting faculty and students and taking orders for diyas from them. These decorated diyas are sold for a profit, and the profits are g
