AASRA in their words

What they feel about us.

I've translated the above from Oriya to English for your easier understanding of it.
                  " My self Durga Hansdah. i am in class 9th. I stay in Rourkela sishubhawan. My parents are not alive, I'm an orphan. Here all of us stay together, happily. NIT brothers and sisters come three days in a week. They teach us on Wednesday and Saturday. On Sundays, we play, sing, dance and have a lot of fun together. They visit us in the evenings, from 5 pm to 8 pm. One thing I feel that I always miss my Papa and this is the reason, maximum time i sit alone and remain silent.. When Didis and Bhaiyas come from NIT, I feel like my parents are with me and I forget everything. It makes me really happy. They also come in festivals like Rakhi and Ganesh puja. I dont have sister, but Didis have never given us a chance to feel it. They celebrate our birth days as well as of theirs also with us.
                On 26th Jan, we all go to NIT. This time we had gone there and performed dance, songs and skits. We ate patties, bread and  banana for breakfast. They give us different kinds of good books, toys among many other things. They have given us a washing machine too. They have given us the love of father, mother, brother and sister... M too happy..."
                    Oh, these little angels! That's what they feel about us! How keenly they observe us. Not only he, but each and everyone have described us in their words. 26th Jan is gone, but they have remembered even the breakfast also.. Coming to NIT once in a year and spending time with us, that day is very much important for them...
Feel their silence in solitude.. We have to break through it and bring smiles on the faces of these little ones...

Orientation Program 2011-2012

Just like every year, AASRA successfully performed its orientation program for the academic year of 2011-2012 in its own fabulous style, overcoming the technical difficulties with the Bhubhaneswar Behera Auditorium. The program started around 5:45 PM on 22nd of the month of july. The program was hosted by Prakash Sarangi, second year student from the department of Mechanical Engineering and Ankita Jena, pre final student from the department of Computer Science Engineering. The program started with the presentation of the Power Point Presentation about the society. There was an over whelming presence of fresher community in the BBA. The PPT explained about AASRA and its profound history, remembering our founder members and their extra ordinary effort to overcome the initial difficulties. Then a simple talk on each and every workplace we visit now was given respectively on Leprosy Colony at Sector-21, Leprosy Colony at OSAP, Orphanage at Basanti Colony and Orphanage at Chhend. Moving Further with the presentation, we discussed our current problems and our effort to curb them with the freshers. The interactive session followed, was highly stimulating and most of the freshers came out with their experience in social service, the kind of joy they derived from this act.

Moving on further, our faculty advisor Prof. Ramakar Jha and our faculty guide Prof. U.K.Mohanty addressed the gathering and motivated them further. The program lived to its peak of satisfaction when the children from the workplaces were called upon and felicitated. When they confessed their ambitions, the auditorium witnessed a scene of music beats spread in the air coming from the satisfied expressions of every one sitting in the arena. The documentary film was shown and following it was the awe inspiring video of Nickelback, If every one cared was shown. Dushyant Sharma, final year student from electrical engineering department shared his three year experience with the people of the Leprosy colony at Sector-21 and his speech inspired many of the crowd to make social service an integral part of their lives. Interested students who wanted to join AASRA were given with the induction forms and 69 people turned in, efficiently bettering over the strength of the previous years. A final video depicting our fun and enjoyment within the family of AASRA was shown and this proved once again that AASRA is not a club, but it is a family working for the betterment of society. The orientation program was a success with all the members of the family, rejoicing and welcoming the new members to the family.

Don't Miss The Day...

(An appeal from a AASRA member...)

"If i would have given a little more effort i could have cracked IIT.
If i would have read a little more, the day before the exam i could have scored better grade."
.
.
.
By this way we always scold our past missing the present . Human desires are unlimited !!! but what about their needs?
There are people in this world who still struggle for their needs...
A small child needs love and care, a grown child needs education,a man need a job, elders and olders need respect and service......and we need to do all these works.
Time is unstopable we have to complete all these works within our life which is long perid to pass but  short period to work. So what you want to do ,just do it now dont look back to ur past or never make plea.   Share you some time with people who lack their needs. Play with them ,hug them, love them,educate them, inspire them and in return you will get all the best feelings of your life. You will feel victorious and immortal and you can beat the time, you will feel satisfied and you will be free from the clutches of your desires...

So never miss the opportunity to help them... because THEY NEED US...

JUST ALLOW THEM TO DREAM!!!

His twinkling eyes speak of a mischief... His eyes race really fast to detect any new thing happening around... He is so impatient that it is impossible to hold him with you for more than a while while trying out for some serious conversation... Equally fast is the mind of Samanta in OSAP Leprosy Colony, who reads in Class 4th... He often weaves out stories and writes them. Once I asked him, "What would you do, when you grow up?" He immediately shot out, "I dont know." I asked him to think about it and he repeated this answer many many times. Then, he finally replied that he would definitely pass Matriculation. I had expected more dreams in his eager eyes. After that? He said that he would go to work.... Simply shocking!!!

Another time, when our friend Prabartika had accompanied us to OSAP, on being asked the same question by her, he again repeated that he didnt know. When she insisted that why dont you become a teacher, he replied that on becoming a doctor, he would have to give injections and if the patient dies, police would take him away. On becoming an engineer, he would have to build houses. On becoming a policeman, he would have to go jogging. Such an answer is quite obvious in the Police Colony. Finally, on being a teacher, he would have to beat children, which is a crime. I was shocked at the quick justified reply, which probably revealed their ideas about their teacher... His answer, despite being humorous, revealed a sad part that they dont dream on the face of the harsh reality that surrounds them.

Anjana, a sweet girl in Class 5th with her perenially ringing laughter however, has some dreams... When I asked her if she would like to appear in the Navodaya Entrance Exam, her answer was a spontaneous "Yes" and that her parents would have really no problem. It was pacifying that she can dream high. She is really a multi-talented girl. Once while teaching her "Fractions", which was not taught in their school, I realized that she hed already read some portions from it. She very fast captured the concepts. Then, she even had knowledge of LCM. Then, I began to teach her Vedic Maths tricks, which she understood initially and was later, able to predict!!! After teaching her for about half an hour, when she had learnt all these amazingly fast, I asked her if she wanted to read for more time, expecting that she would have been bored. But, surprisingly, her answer was an eager "Yes", which revealed her intense interest to capture any knowledge that was available! I was really happy at her interst...

This time on going OSAP after the vacations, I was really pleased that finally Samanta had decided his future- He Would like to be a Policeman...

Our duty is just to kindle the fire in these hidden talents and time will take care of the rest...

LITTLE SMILES AWAIT YOU, SO WHY DELAY...

THE WORLD IS SO BIG, STILL MANY PEOPLE CRY FOR SHELTER

BUT THEY CANT SHOUT, ONLY MURMER AND UTTER.

DO THEY GET A MEAL IN A DAY, WE ARE UNKNOWN

THEY HAVE TO WELCOME A FRUSTRATED LIFE WHEN THE DAY DAWN

TEARS DROPPING FROM THEIR EYES, SMILE IN THEIR DREAMS, IN FRONT THE FOGGY FUTURE LIES,

DROWNING IN SORROW, TO CROSS THE OCEAN OF LIFE, FOR A HELPING HAND THE HEART CRIES.

WE ALL, CHILDREN OF THE MOTHER EARTH, STILL SO MUCH DISCRIMINATION

OUR LIFE WRAPPED WITH GOLDEN SHEET, WITH THEM NO INTERACTION.

COME OUT OF THE DARK, LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE, DONT LET IT DRIFT AWAY,

THERE IS MUCH THAT MUST BE DONE EACH MINUTE OF EACH DAY.

WHY HAVE EYES THAT DO NOT SEE, EARS THAT DO NOT HEAR,

A HAND THAT CAN NOT HELP OR A HEART THAT CAN NOT CHEER?

ALL THEY NEED YOU, YOUR LOVING HEART THAT CAN INTENSELY FEEL,

THERE IS NOTHING SO TERRIBLE ON THIS EARTH THAT LOVE CAN NOT HEAL.

LIFE IS A GIFT, IT HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER

SEE, WHAT YOU HAVE GOT, A FULL SPAN YET JUST HALF A COFFER!

BUT HAPPINESS SHARED WILL SEE OURS TO THE BRINK,

THE MORE WE GIVE, THE LESS IT WILL SHRINK.

AS CLOUD SAIL THROUGH THE BREATH TAKING SKIES;

WE REALISE NOT, BUT TIME REALLY FLIES.

FOR BEFORE REALISATION DAWNS, IT WILL BE TIME TO GO

AND WHEN THIS BODY IS GONE, WHAT WILL BE THERE TO SHOW!

NOT WEALTH, POSITION, NAME OR FAME, BUT ONLY

GOOD DEEDS OF OURS TO LIVE IN THE HEARTS OF MANY...

" THIS LIFE IS SHORT, THE VANITIES OF THE WORLD ARE TRANSIENT, BUT THEY ALONE LIVE WHO LIVE FOR OTHERS, THE REST ARE MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE."

ये सच है...

ये सच है;
जब सबका यही कहना है;
की "दिल तो अभी बच्चा है".
अगर दिल बड़ो का भी बच्चा है;
तो खुद को नहीं तो उन बच्चो को तोबख्शो;
जिनका दिल वाकई में बच्चा है.
मत छीनो उनका बचपन;
बस ये ही तो उनका अपना है.
कर लेने दो उन्हें भी मजा;
आखिर एक दिन उन्हें भी तो होना है बड़ा.
